Care & laundry
How to care for linen, with downloadable care cards.
Before first use
Wash new linen before it goes into service to remove finishing agents and to settle any shrinkage.
Washing
Sort by colour and soil level. Do not overload machines. Use the temperature and chemistry your laundry partner recommends for the fibre.
Drying and storage
Over-drying weakens fibres. Let linen rest on the shelf between uses — rotating stock spreads the wear evenly.
Care by fabric
- Cotton
- Usually washable at high temperatures; may shrink slightly unless pre-shrunk; irons well when slightly damp.
- Microfibre
- Usually washed at lower temperatures than cotton; avoid fabric softener; little or no ironing needed.
- Damask
- Care depends on the fibre it is woven from (often cotton or a blend); press for a crisp finish.
- Waffle
- Care depends on the fibre (often cotton); usually tumble-dried rather than ironed to keep the texture.
